Mission Statement

Excessive cost and excessive utilization of health care services are major problems for the healthcare industry. Through the process of reengineering, it is feasible to attack both of these problems. A minimum target of 25% cost reduction per case is realistic. In addition, the overall cost savings are significantly amplified when over utilization is targeted. The wide spread development of best care guidelines presents an opportunity for this process to move quickly forward. The guidelines are being developed and adopted by the physicians and hospitals responsible for healthcare delivery. They represent a thoughtful balance between good healthcare and utilization of resources. It is imperative that these guidelines be implemented after they have been developed.
The infra structure of the healthcare industry lags far behind other major US industries such as the automotive industry. The ability to measure cost of healthcare delivery is quite limited. From a business management perspective, performance standards are almost non-existent. It is imperative to develop these measurements to guide the reengineering of the healthcare industry.
